Kirtan at Yoga Sarana YYC

  Monthly Kirtan at
Yoga Sarana YYC

A form of yoga that is becoming increasingly well known in the West is "Bhakti Yoga". In bhakti yoga, the experience of devotion and oneness with the divine happens through Kirtan. Kirtan is an ancient practice of chanting and sacred music that finds it roots in the Vedic tradition. "Bhakti Sarana" offers a wide variety of mantras, ancient traditional chants, and enchanting music as a gateway to experience the true meaning of yoga - uniting body, mind, and spirit.

Patanjali, the father of yoga, stated that with whatever intention we move our body with, that intention will become part of our muscle memory and reality. When we dance to these sacred tunes while chanting, the highest frequencies and ultimate truths become more and more awakened in our system. Dive into the experience of divine bliss that is waiting to be experienced and expressed, like the precious pearl waiting to be discovered inside the oyster shell.

“We do not have to be ashamed of what we are. As sentient beings we have wonderful backgrounds. These backgrounds may not be particularly enlightened or peaceful or intelligent. Nevertheless, we have soil good enough to cultivate; we can plant anything in it.”

"Bhakti Sarana" offers chant & sacred music with the world. Each member of Bhakti Sarana follows the path of bhakti, devotion, in our day to day lives.

The name "Bhakti Sarana" is a Sanskrit name. The word "Bhakti" refers to "devotion", the word "Sarana" roughtly to "finding refuge in." There are no English words that could properly, totally translate the Sanskrit words, but this is what it points to.

When we use mantra chant in our daily practice, this can be a way to elevate the mind, transform our inner space from stress to bliss. When we chant mantras we can face and overcome the most difficult emotions and circumstances. Chanting mantras is a way to surrender to the divine intelligence.
